the shaping process (update)

Things I am currently processing:

  1. The effects of biblical interp on our lives
  2. The interweaving of faith and God's will in prayer
  3. Life without the Bible
  4. Church - why do I think like I do?
  5. Are our presuppositions based on the Bible or do we bring presuppositions to the Bible
  6. What is natural as a Christian?
  7. What do Christians naturally do or desire to do when they congregate?

Will finish later as work ended up taking up the rest of my day...aw shux.  maybe tomorrow though as I finally got caught up at work.

will probably discuss a couple of topics #3 & #1

plus seeing if i can upload a pic i drew a few years ago...its incredible.bjones

Current Advocations

ING.  I have been an advocate of ING for a while.  But just needed to make note here.  Its the best thing out there as far as I'm concerned.  Great customer service: you can call & actually speak to someone - no automated prompts if you don't want them, or you can call another number that is all automated or you can do it all online.  Their savings accounts gain great interest (one of the top percentages of all savings accounts, with no catches like some others that may have higher APR's).  Plus if I or someone you know refers you to a link, they give you $25 when you open with $250, but after that, no minimal balance & around 4.5% APR.  Great!!!!  Plus I get $10 if you join.  I can do this 25 times.  User friendly, fun, & just down right smart.

SUPPORT.COM  I found this company today.  I have not been able to get online wirelessly on the laptop for 2 weeks.  Dell wanted $130 to repair it, Geek Squad wanted $160, & none of my computer friends had a clue.  Apparently wireless internet is an animal.  I called their number (as i couldn't get online on this computer) & spoke to someone instantly.  They are based out of NY & spoke perfect English...a major plus.  They normally just get on your computer & take care of the problem, but it took a little longer b/c he had to talk me through things as he figured it out.  He knew everything & they can repair anything.  Check out their website, they can do other things that you may need as well.  All very affordable.  If they repair your computer in 15 minutes or less - its $25. The max is $99.  Mine took 30 minutes, but since it wasn't anything major & it took longer b/c he couldn't get on my computer, they only charged me $29.  Customer for life....Brilliant idea, glad someone finally did it.

PHIL WICKHAM.  Some of the best Christian lyrics in a long time.  Music & voice are wonderful.  May take a time or two to listen & feel the words b/c its a different sound...but highly recommend the cd.  check it out www.philwickham.com.  you can hear 4 of his songs, & they aren't the best ones.

Leeland.  Probably my new fave band, next to DCB.  They are great; very talented, great music, lyrics are solid.  check them out as well.

And finally, the thing that has made probably the biggest impact on my family's life/lives since Sharla & I have been married: (drumroll please) the book - Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey.  If you don't have it, get it.  After you get it, read it, live it.  Experience the freedom that comes from owning your money & not having your money own you.  It is amazing to learn how to become debt free & stay that way.  Learning that much of what we have been taught is fallacy, understanding that if I am dilligent, disciplined, & committed, then I can become debt free regardless of what I think or have been taught.  IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU.  If you don't do anything else I am advocating...do this.  you will not regret it.  Be prepared though, it is not easy.  its tough to dig yourself out of a hole...BUT ITS POSSIBLE.

Love Jesus, Love people.  with everything in you, love:

b

Life & Ministry

So, I am sitting at work, trying to focus on claims...& all I can think about is our church community.  There is so much to be thought about, contemplated, prayed over.  My whole desire is to serve that community and our non-believing friends.  It is very hard to not be able to do that well.  Please pray for us:  my heart longs to be on full support for this service, but God's timing is better than mine.

We had our Tuesday evening meeting last night & I really enjoyed it.  Everyone was very involved and seemed to enjoy having an opportunity to think together.  Pray that our Tuesdays will be productive as we search out "who we are" and as a group, team, community, & church!
